Got a chocolate croissant and two macaroons. Really good price for quality. The seating and atmosphere was great and friendly staff. I sat around for an hour slowly eating and was never bothered, so that was nice. Everything good and clean! Amazing and tasty.
First time came to this bakery. We ordered chai tea, almond croissant and quiches. Chai tea has too much form only half left. Many bake good selections. They have wine section where you can sit and enjoy your coffee.
Great variety here, with many items that I've only seen at this bakery in the city. Each item had good flavor, but a few things in excess. Almost like comfort food I suppose. This is good for an occasion when you really want something fatty and sweet.
The twice baked croissant could have used less grease, the ratatouille sandwich needed more veggies and less cheese and eggs, the quiche had a raw bottom, but the filling was light and airy. The triangle raspberry cake was good, but really heavy on the cream.
If the owners would get the silver spoon out of their mouth and treat this business as an actual business they have something viable.
Unfortunately, they maxed all of their skill points out on the culinary tree and are utterly incompetent otherwise.
It's clear when your entire staff is turned over every few months it's no longer "we can't find good employees". It's "we aren't good employers". Read the other reviews. This is not an isolated incident.
They allow disdain and tension to foster in the workplace and when asked to address it they bury their heads in the sand. They will do the same for any problem that arises. I was told I was making others feel "unsafe" at work. Which is laughable because I am the least threatening person. The real reason was because others just could not accept a white straight male in a position of authority. Instead of stepping in and rectifying the issue when brought to their attention I was ignored.
It went from "you have owner's eyes George we want to promote you to co-manager and give you a raise" to radio silence when I requested mediation. You allowed the wool to be pulled over your eyes so easily it's concerning that you guys even own assets.
Why are my needs any less important than others Carolyn? Does my skin color and sexual orientation warrant less compassion than others? Why are every single one of your employees either gay, trans, or black? Racism and bigotry works both ways.
Honestly a lot of the blame resides with O'Ryan, the walking stereotype but I won't even get into that. Carolyn and Howard put her in a position of power and had the authority to step in but simply chose not to.
By the way, I'm sure Howard will take the time to respond to this review. While you're at it why don't you respond back to the multiple text messages I have sent and provide closure to what an absolutely disappointing experience my employment at Belle.
Edit: You seem to have a lot of "disgruntled employees" leaving your cafe. You know what they say. If you walk around smelling trash all the time. Check your upper lip first. Cheers Howard. Time will reveal the truth. You will reap what you have sewn.
Please save your money and go elsewhere. I can’t even believe the audacity this bakery has to sell clumpy watered down matcha lattes and hot chocolate that taste like dirty water. This place needs some serious revamp in terms of what they’re serving. I’m so mad I spent money at this establishment.
There is also lack of flow. The barista writes the drink order on a piece of paper by hand and uses a magnet to place it on the espresso machine. They forget to write the name sometimes so the baristas just yell out what the drink is and leave it on a mat with no label on the cups to who the drink belongs to. A simple label machine would avoid such chaos.
Staff are nice and very sweet. I can’t blame them for the lack of quality in the drinks as they are just following instructions per management/owner. The staff did offer to make a different drink but I did not want to taste more disappointment.
Nice outdoor seating area. I decided to randomly stop by since I saw their sidewalk sign. There is also some seating inside.
They have wifi.
The barista takes their time making drinks.
The pistachio pastry was a bit dense and a bit bland. If I am in the neighborhood I would come back but won't make a trip for it. There is also a bit of construction on the road in this area.
Food and coffee are good. The staff - sadly, they act quite detached and not at all welcoming. I hope they can improve their customer service to match the food quality.
And "please" don't put water out for dogs unless staff can maintain it.
Had an odd experience with the staff here. I walked in and was promptly ignored for a period of time. Finally I was acknowledged and taken care of. The odd part though was when the manager, I guess (dressed better than the others) was rudely issuing commands to the other employees there. You could just tell he felt very entitled to his position and this was status quo. The way that employees interact with each other says a lot about what's going on behind the scenes in an establishment. It made me so uncomfortable that I almost opened my mouth to stick up for the others. Next time I go in, if I witness the same thing I most likely will not be able to hold my tongue.
